Plant B-1 was used for aircraft manufacturing and research and development laboratories when activities ceased. Buildings and infrastructure including below grade (utility lines, building footings and foundations, etc.) were demolished and removed from the Plant B-1 site between 1990 and 1995 as part of the Plant B-1 underground tank program.  A series of remedial actions were performed at the direction of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board including installation of soil vapor extraction systems and removal of chemically impacted soil and buried wastes. 

WHITELINE

Four separate soil removal actions were performed and 250 soil vapor extraction wells were installed in the central portion of Plant B-1 as part of the operating soil vapor extraction system.
