WEST BASIN
GENERAL CONTRACTOR:
CLARK CONSTRUCTION
START DATE: 02/1993
DATE OF COMPLETION: 09/1994
CONTRACT AMOUNT: $13,700,000

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
The project took effluent from Hyperion WWTP through a 60 line and further cleaned it to make Title 22 grey water for irrigation as well as RO water for regeneration of the underground salt water barrier in the South Bay.

SCOPE OF WORK:
The project was the complete mechanical package including equipment, process piping, plumbing and HVAC. At the time it also included the largest RO facility West of the Mississippi River.

CHALLENGES:
The project was fast track and presented coordination issues for large diameter pipe fabrication and equipment deliveries. Much of the piping for the facility was very large bore and underground. Down the center of the facility was a trench that was 16' deep and 54' across that contained three layers of various pipes ranging in size from 60 inches down to 8 inches. Site access was very difficult.
