The new hospital replaces all but the Merle Norman Pavilion building, which was renovated to include seismic upgrades. Services include comprehensive inpatient and ambulatory programs with special focus on cardiology, emergency medicine, orthopedics and obstetrics. A multi-phased construction strategy was utilized to maintained hospital operations throughout construction.
Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center/Orthopaedic Hospital UCLA replaced earthquake-damaged facilities with a new community/academic hospital, closely integrating the programs of the community-based primary and secondary care center with the flagship UCLA Westwood Hospital as the tertiary and quaternary center.
